TAMPA, Fla. -- Top Democratic Party leaders are in Tampa offering rebuttals and gearing up for their turn in the spotlight next week during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz talked a lot about the differences between what she's seeing in downtown Tampa and the experiences of the RNC and what she expects to see next week during the DNC.

Wasserman-Schultz said compared o the RNC, she's expecting the DNC to be far more available to people and far more inclusive. The DNC chair is hopeful more people will be able to come to uptown Charlotte and really take part in all these activities.

Wasserman-Schultz said right now in Tampa it's really closed off for top Republican Party leaders, as well as special interests and other things like that.

"Ordinary citizens weren't invited and weren't able to participate in the convention here in Tampa for the Republicans," she said. "Next week, anyone who wants to participate will be able to be involved in some way. We're actually going to have the most inclusive, public-oriented, nominating presidential convention in history."

Wasserman-Schultz said in addition to the DNC rapid response that's going on at the RNC in Tampa, she's expecting Republicans to have a similar rapid response room in Charlotte when the Democrats convene next week.
