A ride out into the countryside can sometimes lead to great discoveries. I found one just east of Auburn, N.Y. on Center Street Road. The Restaurant at Elderberry Pond is open for a fine dining experience, lunch and dinner, getting all of its food from their 100 acre certified organic farm right next door.

Getn' There: NY State Thruway exit #40, right onto Rt. 34. At the light in Weedsport, a left onto E. Brutus St. then a right onto South St. Go into the town of Sennett past the stop sign and then a right onto Rt. 5. Past '84 Lumber' a left onto Chestnut Ridge Rd then a left onto Center Street Road. 1.5 miles to restaurant on your right.
