Observatory captures CAMM grant
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Time Warner Cable's Connect a Million Minds initiative grants more than $7,000 to a Broome County non-profit. Kopernik Observatory and Science in Vestal received $7,500 in funding from the philanthropic program.
The money will allow Kopernik educators to provide a multi-school science day program to 5th through 8th graders this fall. Students will experience hands-on learning through a 3-D projector wall, telescopes, and solar observing.
The goal of this funding is to increase awareness of astronomy among students and the general public.
Time Warner Cable is the parent company of YNN and we are committed to the Connect a Million Minds program, inspiring youth to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills. For more information on the initiative, go to connectamillionminds.com.
