West Nile cases detected in Monroe and Dutchess counties

Human cases of West Nile have been detected in Monroe and Dutchess counties.
A 45-year-old Rochester man was tested last month after showing signs of the virus, including muscle weakness and a stiff neck. The man is recovering and back at work.
A 37-year-old Hyde Park man reported symptoms last month as well, including muscle aches, headache and a fever. He was tested 10 days later at Saint Francis Hospital Emergency Department and has been recovering at home.
The state Health Department as of Friday reported 57 human cases statewide so far this year of the mosquito-borne illness.
