The price of gasoline is a continual concern and many drivers have considered purchasing a hybrid car. In the past, these vehicles may have been outside your budget. This year, however, the 2012 New York International Auto Show is offering new hybrid vehicles that may finally fit your price range.

Diesel cars are green, too. Diesel-fueled engines have always been available in heavy-duty trucks, but manufacturers also offer them in a few compact and mid-size sedans, as well as some SUVs and hatchbacks. All modern diesel engines are turbocharged for increased power and very high fuel efficiency. Most diesel vehicles can go 6-700 miles on a tank of fuel. That’s impressive.
Volkswagen Golf Diesel – compact
MPG: 30 city / 42 highway
Price: $24,235
Audi A3 Diesel – station wagon
MPG: 30 city / 42 highway

2013 Chevy Cruze diesel has been announced as well as the Mazda Skyactive diesel so look for more great choices in the future.
Whether you are in the market for all-electric plug-in, hybrid or diesel car, seek out government and business rebates to help lower the price before you sign on the dotted line.
Remember, when looking at a hybrid (or any car for that matter) test drive as many vehicles in the category as possible and do your homework to see what meets your family’s needs.
