Getaway Guy: Winterlude Getaway - Part 2

While at Winterlude in Ottawa, Canada, you'll need a place to stay and a place to eat. I found a few good ones!

  • Westin Ottawa is the newly rejuvenated 496 room hotel in the perfect location to enjoy Winterlude and many of Ottawa's best attractions. Many of the guest rooms overlook the Rideau Canal, which is the centerpiece of Winterlude. The hotel is also connected to the huge downtown mall!

The hotel offers a heated, indoor salt-water pool along with hot tub, gym and sauna. Perfect ammentities after a fun-filled day outside taking in the winter festivities.

The best rates can be found on line at the hotel website link below. Remember! Ottawa's Winterlude is happening weekends through February 21st.

  • Hungry? How about something very Canadian and very unique? I paid a visit to Sweetgrass Aboriginal Bistro, 108 Murray St. in the historic Byward Market neighborhood. Menu highlights are the Grilled Tatonka (Bison), Pan Roasted White Bass, Bistro Buffalo Burger and the Crispy Duck Leg. Lunch and dinner items follow the ancient paths of North America's Aboriginal peoples. Even though the vibe is very casual, the dining room adds a touch of class with white table cloths and walls decorated in native art.
