Your Town, Your Story: Amsterdam

Your Town, Your Story: Amsterdam
This week's Your Town, Your Story takes us to Montgomery County.

A pending resolution there has the potential to pit the town and the city of Amsterdam against one another. It's all over sales tax -- who gets what, and how?

Amsterdam Town Supervisor Tom DiMezza stopped by the Capital News 9 studio to talk more about this.

He said, "The additional one percent, the city would be getting 10 percent of that...and they are the only ones getting any money out of the additional one percent sales tax. So if they were going to go to population-based, the town of Amsterdam would lose substantially, probably $325,000, and also the two villages within the town would lose substantially."
