Eco-friendly yard care
You have heard of the word eco- friendly. But do products that claim to be safe for your yard and better for the environment actually work?
"For lawn fertilizing to get stuff to flourish, it's probably as effective or more effective in some cases," said Atillio Tabano, from Home Depot.
Most chemical fertilizers have warnings and are toxic to humans and pets. The eco-friendly organic lawn fertilizer called terrracycle is safe and even packaged in recycled soda bottles.
“A natural product, it is made from organic manure, call it worm poop. It is lawn fertilizer and virtually has no environmental impact. Safe to use around kids and pets. Once you apply it, it is safe to walk on after that," said Tabano.
Organic fertilizer is made up of natural animal byproducts and you will see a warning but that's not because it's toxic, just concentrated.
"A lot of times when they say cautions it's because it is an irritant, if you keep it on your skin long. So when you do handle it, like any product, because it is a manure product or its a fertilizer product, so you don't want to leave it on your hands. It's concentrated," said Tabano.
There's a variety of organic products to use on plants, trees, shrubs and garden dust for flowers. Got bugs eating your plants? Try using this soap.

It kills the bugs but is safe on veggies, even the day of harvest.
If your concern is a pretty little critter or perhaps Bambi, or a nice little buck don't worry, you can ward them off also very safely.
If you read the ingredients you may think it's a recipe. You will find salts from fatty acids, egg solids, garlic and spices like black pepper.
"They have natural ingredients found in there you see every day. Peppermint oils, clove oils. Highly concentrated, a bad taste, bad odor so they tend to stay away. They don't like to be around so they tend to stay away,” Tabano said.
