Heart patient Pastor Allan Bliss said, "There's at least two kinds of miracles. You might be touched; you might describe it as being tapped on the forehead by God, and instantly something is fixed or healed. The other kind of miracle to me is that He will allow somebody to figure out in science to help prolong life and ease pain and make corrections. And this miracle with the LifeVest is of that nature."

It's hard for a pastor not to see a miracle, when his own life is saved in an amazing way.

It was Pastor Allan Bliss' normal morning routine: wake up early, brew a pot of coffee.

He said, "I thought I fell asleep. And what happened was, I'd gone unconscious and didn't know it."

Allan's heart was stopping.

"Poof! I got zapped with the defibrillator," he said.

Dr. Parag Patel, M.D., Rochester General Hospital, said, "In those instances, we don't want to subject them to having a permanent, implantable device."

Only weeks before the heart attack, doctors had prescribed Allan to wear a Zoll LifeVest. It's a wearable defibrillator that monitors for uneven heart rhythms and can provide life-saving shocks.

Dr. Patel said, "The most important thing when this arrhythmia happens is getting out of it. And the defibrillator is the best way to do that."

Pastor Allan Bliss has since had an internal defibrillator implanted in his chest. And his new lease on life, has got him thinking.

He said, "Maybe...just sharing my story can save someone else's life, who knows. And that has nothing to do with me. It just has to do with the LifeVest and God's timing."
