Go, go, go -- it seems to be part of our daily lives. Ever wish you could just press the mute button and free yourself?
You can with practice. Yes, it sounds and may even look silly to many of you. But I found out that yoga is much more than just strange sounds, long stretches and colorful words.
Jelane Kennedy said, "It gives us more of an idea of what we are really thinking and feeling. Otherwise, we're moving too fast. It's like McDonald's all the time."
Jelane Kennedy wanted out of the fast food line, and over a year ago she started practicing a slower line at the Albany Kripalu Yoga Center.
"I like the whole mind, body, spirit all coming together in the hour and a half," said Kennedy.
Yoga instructor Judi England said, "Meditation is not about zoning out. It's about a heightened focus. It's about coming directly and presently into the moment in which you are living -- your body, your mind and your thoughts with your heart."
Eastern philosophy actually uses breathing techniques and yogic poses to prepare the body for meditation. Judi England said to start the practice, all you have to do is relax and live in the moment.
Find a comfortable position, whether that's sitting on a cushion crossed-legged, or prop pillows under your knees, or sit in a chair.
"The mind likes to generate a lot of thoughts. Most of them aren't real. They're about something that has happened before and something that might happen later. To be in the moment one breath at a time is extremely powerful," said England.
Placement of the hands is also very powerful -- depending on your mood for the day.

England said, "Mudras are very powerful in regulating energy. If you place your hands palms down, it's very grounding. If you turn your palms up, it's I'm open and receptive. This, believe it or not, if you extend the fingers and just notice, it helps keep your spine straight. It also regulates the divine energy and the ego."
England went on to say, "I find it's easy at work. When I get uptight, I can relax and find a place of center."
A place of center in this chaotic world, by simply pressing the mute button.
