BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people packed into the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church Wednesday to say goodbye to Maria Zobniw. Zobniw was one of the 13 people shot and killed by Jiverly Wong in Binghamton last Friday.
She was a caseworker and immigration counselor at the American Civic Association. Maria was also described as the face of the Ukrainian community who was in charge putting on events like the ethnic festival and the flag raising on Ukrainian Day.
Friends of Zobniw came from as far away as New Jersey to attend the funeral and they say they will remember her as a great person who did so much to help others.
After the service, Zobniw's body was taken to the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Castle Creek for burial.
