If you were enamored by Friday's royal wedding, you too could get the royal treatment when it comes to homebuying. Ryan Peterson has more on Kastle Karl in this week's Your Home.
We've reported time and again recently that the housing market is starting to come back around, but it's still seen as a buyer's market. Challenges exist for sellers at the moment. If it's proving difficult to unload your average single family home right now, imagine putting a castle up for sale.
"You don't have to travel to Europe to own a castle. You can buy one right here in New York State," said real estate agent, Scott Varley. "I was hoping that some of the royalty of England would be looking for a little investment property in New York State, but that hasn't happened yet."
That's right, if you're still in awe over the royal wedding, you too can have your very own Camelot. But, this medieval inspired residence doesn't come with a storied history. Built just a few years ago, Kastle Karl, as it's known, is a one of a kind, highly personalized property - one that Varley says offers endless possibilities.
"There's eight acres of property here. There's room for more buildings. This would make a great corporate retreat," he said.
The owner of Kastle Karl, according to Varley, is also willing to open the property up for rentals as well. I can't think of a better place to exchange vows, if this is your kind of thing, than standing at the top of the master staircase.
Varley said, "The owner has had four weddings here. People have used his house. Look at the double staircase. It's a pretty awesome place to have a very memorable wedding."
Why sell such a personal piece of property? Well, the owner, who has tired of Upstate New York winters, is heading for the warmer climate of the Sunshine State.
