UTICA, N.Y. -- A serial rapist wanted by U.S. Marshal is behind bars after police found him in a Utica murder victim's car.
Robert Blainey, 45, was arrested after Pennsylvania State Police pulled him over for a traffic violation in Montoursville Monday evening. Police say he was driving the car belonging to 68-year-old Linda Turner.
Turner's body was discovered at the Davis Motel on Herkimer Road in Utica last week. She owned the motel and also lived on the property. Her car was missing at the time her body was found.
Law enforcement agencies in the area had issued numerous warnings about Robert Blainey after learning he was in the area more than a week ago. Blainey is a convicted rapist. Utica Police are en route to Pennsylvania to question Blainey, but say he has not yet been charged in Linda Turner's murder.
Utica Police Chief Mark Williams said, “There's some details that I can't speak about that we do know and have. I can't speak of them, but let me just say that he's a strong suspect and there's a strong possibility he'll be charged with this."
If Blainey is charged, it could likely be with second degree murder.
Utica authorities are in the process of bringing Blainey back to Utica.
