UTICA, N.Y. -- A trial date has been set for the man accused of fatally shooting Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Wyman back in June.
Christian Patterson appeared in Oneida County Court Monday where Judge Barry Donalty announced proceedings against him will begin January 30.
Patterson allegedly shot Deputy Wyman, 24, following a stand-off at his home in Knoxboro on June 7.
Prosecutors say several expert witnesses are expected to be called.
"There'll be some expert testimony concerning the crime scene. There will possibly be some other expert testimony concerning the mental state of the defendant," said First Assistant DA Michael Coluzza.
Patterson faces a number of charges, including aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and second degree harassment.
