ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. – High school girls lacrosse players step up their game for a good cause. Tully hosted Bishop Ludden for their fifth annual Under the Lights Breast Cancer benefit.
The event was started for community member Pat Bailey who died of breast cancer the day before the first benefit. All the proceeds collected go to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of Central New York, which means all the funds support local patients and their families.
"We have to just keep fighting because it's everywhere. It affects everybody. Everybody that I talk to knows somebody either close or not so close. But it's affecting everybody," said Linda Casey, Pat Bailey's sister.
Joann Featherstone, the organizer for the Under the Lights Breast Cancer benefit, added, "We have so many individuals in our lives that are touched with breast cancer and to know that we can do a little something just to help locally, it's wonderful just to be able to do that."
The goal of the event was to raise $10,000.
