BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The contract has been signed and construction is ready to begin on the site of the future ACA Memorial.
Crews were out Wednesday clearing the site to make way for construction.
Back in March, when the final donations were secured, organizers said they were hoping to complete the project by September. That hasn't happened, but the project's coordinator did get some good news Wednesday. The city reportedly signed on with the contractor who submitted the lowest bid and work will begin sometime next week.
Once complete, the memorial will consist of a fractured granite column surrounded by 13 glass birds and a garden.
