SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Ronald McDonald House is getting 52 new mattresses thanks to a local company. Syracuse-based Metro Mattress delivered the queen-sized mattresses to the newly constructed building today.
The company says it did this to support The Ronald McDonald House's mission. That mission is to make families feel at home while their children are receiving long-term medical care at Syracuse hospitals and treatment centers.
With the opening of the House at the end of this month, the mattresses are one of the last major items to be put in place.
"One of the most important pieces of our mission, one of the most integral parts of our mission, is really ensuring a comfortable night's rest at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Beth Trunfio, Executive Director Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The 35,000 square foot house is handicap accessible, and features an elevator, guest rooms with private baths, a large family-centered kitchen and a community room.
