Governor Andrew Cuomo has pledged a significant amount of money for Sandy victims from the state of New York. Nick Reisman has more on what the governor is doing as the recovery process continues.
NEW YORK STATE -- Governor Andrew Cuomo says he wants residents to have the power they paid for. Cuomo says about half of the homes that lost power in Sandy have had their power restored. The governor adds that he understands utility workers are working very hard, but says he is still holding them accountable for their performance.
"I represent the people of the state of New York. I represent the people who are right now without power. I represent the people who pay the bills to utility companies. My position is very simple. I want accountability and I want performance. We understand the situation but we expect utilities to perform adequately and I will hold them accountable for their performance," said Gov. Cuomo.
Cuomo says 200 line crews from Quebec will also be coming in today to assist.
