ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Hundreds dressed in their finest to spend their night supporting an important cause to women in the community. It was for the Vera House Foundation's annual New Beginnings Gala at the SRC Arena.
It's the largest fundraiser for the charity that protects victims of domestic violence, rape and other crimes.
More than 500 people donated to the cause, one of the largest crowds the group has ever had. A special tribute was paid to the gala chairs, Margie and Alan Burnstein.
"The fact that Vera House is needed in the community, it’s a way of honoring and celebrating everything we do to help people through hope and healing, whatever they've been through," said Margie Burnstein.
It's the 21st year Vera House has hosted the New Beginnings Gala.
