CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A suspected bank robber was arrested by a police officer who was on his way to the scene.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office says the suspect walked into the First Niagara Bank on North Seneca Street in Weedsport Tuesday morning, demanded cash and told the teller he had a gun.
A Weedsport police officer was en route to the bank when he saw a man matching the suspect description.
Michael Burr, 64, was taken into custody. Police say he didn't end up having a gun, but he did have the stolen cash.
Burr was charged with felony robbery.
