WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Thousands of people in the North Country showed their heart some love on Saturday morning. The American Heart Association hosted their 19th annual Heart Walk at the Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown.
According to the American Heart Association, one in every three adults in the U.S. has had a stroke or some form of heart disease.
Juanita Booth is a survivor of multiple heart procedures and said events like these really get people out and aware of the risks of heart disease.
"It just makes you feel the support and camaraderie of everyone, as you try to get well and to bring awareness to the issue,” said Juanita Booth, Antwerp resident.
Tables were set up all around the arena for people to get check-ups. Those who participated in the walk were able to choose between a one or three mile course.
