FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act provide further information about the Fort Drum soldier who is facing murder and manslaughter charges in the death of his stepson.
According to the court documents, Staff Sergeant Raheem Hollis grabbed the child and dropped or threw him onto a hard surface. The document cited Hollis threw with "a force likely to produce death or grievous bodily harm."
The report also said Hollis lied to investigators about the four-year-old's death. He allegedly told the people he lived with to lie about the incident.
A long investigation was conducted following the child's death in 2012. Hollis was charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
The charges include manslaughter, murder, false official statements, assault, and obstruction of justice.
