NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- The always popular sand sculpture returns to the Center of Progress building this year. This is the fifth year the sculpture has been in that building.
Mark Mason and his partner Patrick Harsh have traveled here all the way from Sarasota, Florida. This is their third year working on it.
Of course, at this point, the sculpture is still in the early stages. Fairgoers will get the chance to see it evolve over the next 12 days.
This year's theme is the Bounty of New York. It's focused on all the wonderful products that state has to offer.
"We've got the animals and the carnival. Wine, yogurt, cheeses made in New York here. But we'll have corn, some gigantic corn. We'll take eight tons of sand and make one corn cob. So you've gotta come and see that," Mason said.
