CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- The prosecution rested their case Thursday in the Justin Jones murder trial with two key witnesses.
A mutual friend between Jones and the victim, Brian Martin, walked jurors through the night before the murder. Jennifer Muccigrosso testified she was with Jones when she bought him a Trac Phone then activated it. The prosecution says that Trac Phone called Martin's phone before he was murdered.
The defense argued Jones never instructed her to activate the phone.
The owner of the house on Alexander Place, where Jones was staying, also testified against the defendant. Edwin Charriez said he was with Jones the morning after the murder. Charriez said he noticed blood stains on the floor and said Jones said, "he had to take care of business."
Under cross-examination, the defense attorney brought up a long criminal history of Charriez. The defense says Charriez only cooperated with police because he knew he could be an accessory to murder after helping Jones clean up.
Martin was found dead on November 8th last year in his mother's SUV on Alexander Place.
