SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some people who had tickets to the speech at Henninger gymnasium were not able to get inside to see the President.
For the few who were shut out after waiting for hours to get their hands on tickets, it was disappointing to miss out on the landmark event.
"I wait in line for like two hours just to get searched. I get to the front of the building and get denied. I was the cutoff. I waited in line for a long time to get this ticket. It was raining. It was really wet. It was terrible," Jacinda Jones said.
"Even if I didn't get to see him, just for him stepping into our city. For President Obama to come here is just an honor. Education is a main key that as college students, we're big on," Johmarr Ogletree said.
A source with knowledge of the situation says that the thunderstorms that rolled through Syracuse just before the speech, forced the processing area to be shut down earlier than expected.
