CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- Heavy police activity was seen at a home in Elmira Heights Friday morning. The Chemung County Sheriff's department says it's related to the continued search for Robert Rouille.
The 33-year-old is wanted for an attempted armed robbery in Southport that happened last week. He is considered armed and dangerous.
A neighbor who lives on McCauley Avenue says she was told by police that her kids should go inside just after 10 a.m. Friday. She was later asked to evacuate her home around noon, but not before she saw SWAT teams take four people out of a home across the street one by one. She says she does not want to see anything like this again.
"Not something that I've ever wanted my kids to have to witness, not something, as I, myself as an adult, have ever wanted to witness, so emotions are high. It's a scary situation," said Laurie Bush.
Police still have not confirmed if Rouille was among those who were taken out.
