It is day four of the New York State Fair, and the family fun continues. YNN's Sarah Blazonis checked out the Youth Activity Center where the Sea Lion Splash is making waves.
NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- A popular exhibit returns to the New York State Fair this year and hopes to send a serious message.
Zoe and Spark are the two main performers in the Sea Lion Splash Show. During their performances you can watch them jump, swim, and play in the Youth Activity Center.
However, trainers are working to raise awareness about the dangers to the animal's natural habitat. Several sea lions were found beached throughout this summer.
According to the trainers, recycling can help keep the animals safe.
"Zoe here, she was a rescue and she was found, unfortunately, when she was probably only a few days old. We don't know what happened to her mother, but in most cases what ends up happening is their mother will end up getting caught in plastic or eat plastic, things like that," said Jillian Gonzalez, Sea Lion Splash Trainer.
