CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The FAA is investigating after a single engine plane crash in Cortland County. The lone person on the plane, the pilot, is recovering from his injuries.
Officials say the plan seemed to have crashed during take off at the end of the runway just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday .
The 55-year-old pilot was able to get out of the plane on his own. He was treated at the scene for his injuries and then taken to a local hospital.
At this time, the airport manager believes the plane's landing gear collapsed, but the exact cause has not been determined.
