The Dairy Products Building is one of the most popular stops at the fairgrounds, no matter what the day. But Monday, it will be very popular as the fair officially recognizes Dairy Day. Brad Vivacqua has more.
NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- The Great New York State Fair continues in Central New York. Monday is day five of the fair and it is Dairy Day and Senior Citizen's Day.
A few events highlighting the dairy industry are taking place including a milkshake contest, a cow milking competition and a dairy parade. And, of course, the popular butter sculpture is on display in the Dairy Products Building.
There's also the Rainbow Milk Bar featuring white or chocolate milk for just 25 cents, along with a number of other dairy products.
"There's certainly different ice cream vendors. You can go to the cheese booth and taste a variety of New York State cheeses. All sorts of goodies to see in the fair and then, of course, stop over at our dairy princess booth where you can meet dairy princesses from throughout New York State and buy some great promotional items as well," said Beth Meyer, American Dairy Association Communications Director.
New York is currently the fourth leading milk producer in the country behind California, Idaho and Wisconsin.
