NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- Beef Day always includes a little friendly competition. That was certainly the case at the seventh annual “Create the Perfect Burger” Contest.
Five all-star finalists went up against five new challengers. The burgers are rated on a scale of one to ten. The grand prize is $500 and six months of free beef or veal.
A panel of judges decided who would take home the title of the "Perfect Burger." Those who didn't land the number one burger could win in a number of other categories.
"We have the consumer friendly burger that Tops will decide and we have the juiciest burger, we have the most dynamic use of cheese, we have one of the cheese judges here, so all sorts of different ideas and aspects of creating the perfect burger," said Jean O'Toole of the New York Beef Council.
