NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- The Fire Safety Zone is a longtime staple of the fair. There is a daily puppet show in the Science and Industry Building to teach children some of the basics of staying safe and the House of Hazards shows all the different dangers that could be present in your own home.
Of course, there is also plenty of information for parents on the best ways to keep their family safe.
"Come on over and watch the puppet show where we talk about crawling low under smoke if you've got caught in the house on fire, the importance of having smoke detectors in every room in your house and also, if your clothes catch on fire, to stop, drop and roll. Some of the very important fire safety messages we try to get across," said Fran Stepien, Fire Education Center Volunteer.
The Fire Safety Zone is active every day of the fair.
