BLACK RIVER, N.Y. -- Congressman Bill Owens spent Friday morning on a North Country bike tour.
Owens was joined by the owners of Black Rivers Adventures Shop in Watertown. The group rode their bikes on a trail along the Black River.
The bike ride was about 10 miles in total. According to Owens, he hopes more people in his district get involved in similar outdoor recreation.
"For a couple of reasons. The first is obviously for health reasons. The other is economic. This brings business to a community whether it's people who are out walking, cycling, roller blading, whatever activity they are involved in it's bringing business to the community and we want to stimulate that," explained Owens.
After the ride, the Congressman said he felt energized. Owens said bike rides help him gather his thoughts and work through any issues.
