ITHACA, N.Y. -- Police are investigating a report of gunfire in an Ithaca neighborhood.
Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the area of Wood Street and Plain Street where a man had reportedly gotten out of a black SUV and began firing a handgun. A silver vehicle, possibly a Toyota or Audi, sped away from the scene, almost hitting a pedestrian in the process.
Police say they didn't find any shooting victims in the area and no one was treated for gunshot wounds at any of the local hospitals. But they do believe the silver vehicle involved may have been hit by gunfire.
Police are looking for tips from anyone who might have seen something in the area Saturday night. The number for the Police Tip Line is (607) 697-0333.
