ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two teenagers are arrested following a police chase on the Thruway.
According to New York State Police, it began on Sunday afternoon when a Trooper attempted to stop a speeding car. Further investigation revealed the car was stolen in Utica by Devon Brantley, 17, and Rickey Woods, 16.
The two teens led police on a chase until the driver crashed into a guardrail in the EZ pass lane of the Westmoreland exit on the Thruway.
After crashing, Brantley and Woods ran away. Woods was quickly captured, but it took four hours to track down Brantley.
According to State Police, they found him in a small shed in Graves Road.
"We had a great deal of help from the public. There were activities going on at the Westmoreland schools and they were able to tell us that they saw two people matching the descriptions of the subjects we were trying to locate so that came in handy," explained New York State Police Captain Francis Coots.
The two teens have yet to be charged, but Troopers said they will likely be charged with stealing a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
