SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Two Syracuse University public safety officers were taken to the hospital after they were struck by lightning on Sunday night.
According to the Chief of Public Safety, it happened around 11:55 p.m. in a parking lot on Skytop Road. Officer Stanley Prue and Senior Detective Ed Weber were on duty when it happened.
Chief Anthony Callisto said Prue got out of the car after hearing a loud boom, and was thrown nearly five feet from the vehicle. Weber remained inside the car, and became disoriented after the strike.
Weber was able to contact 911, and both men were taken to the hospital.
Weber has been released, but Prue is still undergoing tests.
