NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- It was a record breaking year for the baked potato booth at the New York State Fair. The stand sold more than 54,500 potatoes by Monday afternoon. The old record of nearly 51,000 was set back in 2008.
Organizers say the line started at 10 a.m. on day one of the fair and never let up. They credit creating two separate serving areas with helping to speed up the process.
But some customers who come back year after year say no matter how long the line, they planned to wait for this favorite.
"Well, they're really good, but it's kind of a tradition because we brought our kids here from when they were little. I remember when they were free, but they are really good," Syracuse resident Carol Williams said.
