SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- West Nile virus has been found in the City of Syracuse. The Onondaga County Health Department says a mosquito pool tested positive for the dangerous disease along Midler Avenue.
This is the third time West Nile virus has been found in Onondaga County this year. So far, no human cases have been reported.
Even with summer winding down, health officials still want people to be careful outside. People should try to cover themselves around dusk and dawn and use bug spray on exposed skin. Also, remove standing water from your property, as it can be a breeding ground for the pests.
