UTICA, N.Y. -- The Boilermaker Road Race made some announcements on Thursday about some notable causes.
The Boilermaker's Walk Committee presented a check for $2,000 to the Masonic Care Community during a news conference.
The three-mile walk hosted more than 400 people this year. The walk committee said the donation is of their favorite tradition of the event.
"The Masonic Care does so much for the whole entire area, not just having a care community. They help with so many different things that it's wonderful to give back to the residents and have them benefit from the walk. And they come out and cheer us on, too, which is even nicer," said Marie Seiselemyer, coordinator.
Boilermaker officials also announced the Boolermaker on Thursday. It is a new Halloween run for kids. It is all part of an effort to promote healthy habits when it comes to Halloween treats.
