SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The man police say fell 21 floors down a garbage chute after a bank robbery was formally charged Thursday.
Robert Guthridge, 26, is facing felony robbery in the third degree. According to investigators, Guthridge robbed the JP Morgan Chase bank on the 100 block of West Fayette Street in Syracuse.
The suspect ran from the building and officers were told that he went into a building on South Clinton Street. When crews searched the building, they eventually heard someone screaming in the basement.
Guthridge was trapped in the chute near the compactor with severe injuries. He is still at the hospital recovering from injuries he suffered while trying to run from police. The suspect is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
