SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A team of volunteers spent their Friday helping Syracuse homeowners.
Hundreds of volunteers worked to clean up Hawley Avenue during the eighth annual Blitz Block. It is all part of an effort to improve the neighborhood's appearance and assist some homes get up to code.
Some volunteers said the charitable event makes a big difference in the community.
"It gives us the opportunity to let them know that we are here for them and that we are hearing them, and that we are paying attention to their neighborhood," said Mary Jo Richer, Home Headquarters Real Estate Manager.
Several companies sponsored the event and sent volunteers to work with homeowners.
