If you're looking for something to do and lots of things to eat, Festa Italiana could be it. It's underway this weekend just outside of Syracuse City Hall. Our Iris St. Meran spoke to visitors about what they love most.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The rainy weather didn't stop these people from venturing out to Festa Italiana. In fact, Karl and Sheree Wheelock made sure they were ready.
Sheree Wheelock said, "We always come prepared. If you go into our car right now, we've got extra ponchos, umbrellas. A grill if you need it."
There's no need for a grill here. Montgomery and Washington streets in Syracuse are full of Italian sweets and other treats. More than 25 vendors are serving up popular items.
"We come down to enjoy the food, the ambiance. To eat, to eat as my husband would say. That's what we're going to do, eat our way through," said Wheelock.
"The rigatoni are the one thing I love. I like the Basil Leaf. I love the food there. We just had some and it's great. It always makes you feel good,” said Peter Gale.
Although food is a big part of it, some people come to take in the culture.
Matthew Scala said, "I am many nationalities, Italian being one, so I figured I should check it out. I know it goes on every year, so I wanted to give it a shot."
Rain or shine, it proved to be a good and tasty time.
