UTICA, N.Y. -- Police in Utica said the father of the child found in the Mohawk River was dealing drugs while police were looking for his son.
The remains of baby Levon Wameling were identified last week after he disappeared in May.
Wameling's father, Javon Wameling, is already in Oneida County Jail for burglary charges. Now, police have submitted a criminal complaint that accused Wameling of three counts of felony conspiracy.
The complaint alleges Wameling arranged to sell crack and heroine several times between June 28 and August 15. Police apparently caught him after listening in on his telephone conversations.
Officers also found heroine and packaging tools with crack and heroine residue on them during a search.
Three co-defendants have also been named. Police claim Courtney Blackshear, 25, Ashley LaComb, 21, and Wakeme 'Big Man' Littlejohn, 35, helped Wameling sell drugs.
Both of Wameling's current cases are headed to a grand jury.
