PROSPECT, N.Y. -- The Prospect Fire Company said they have won the right to keep their building and gear for now.
On Tuesday, the village of Prospect voted to dissolve the fire company. The proposal included selling the fire company’s property and using the profits to pay a workers’ compensation claim.
Fire Chief Wayne Premo said the Oneida County Supreme Court granted an injunction on Thursday. Now, the department is able to have keys to the building, even though it won’t operating.
Another court date is scheduled for October.
