TULLY, N.Y. -- A local Olympian comes home to inspire fellow runners and support his community.
Lopez Lomong was back in Tully Friday. He joined in on a 5K fun run at Tully High School.
Friends say Lomong enjoys taking a break from competition and returning to his roots.
"He kind of misses that feeling of family and that feeling of camaraderie with his teammates, his alumni and things like that. Once you move up through the college level and the pro circuit, the feeling changes," said Jim Paccia, Tully High School cross country coach.
Money raised through the event benefits Lomong's charity, 4 South Sudan, and the Tully Boys Running Club.
