1978's "Halloween" is one of the most popular Halloween movies of all time and this weekend, fans got the chance to experience their own Halloween thrill. The actor who played Michael Myers, Tony Moran, made a stop in Central New York to send shivers down the spine of movie enthusiasts. Our Candace Hopkins was there and had her own close encounter with the terrifying Myers.
PALERMO, N.Y. -- At the Last Ride Hayride in Palermo, it's all about scaring the daylights out of every person brave enough to climb on board and venture into the woods.
"Everyone's dressed up, the people really get into what they're doing, they act, they try to scare you," said Bridgeport resident Shayna Gersh.
The hayride features a replica house from the classic movie "Halloween." In that film, killer Michael Myers stalks a young woman and her friends. It's an attraction Last Ride customers love and this year, they got the chance to see the original Michael Myers himself. Myers was played by actor Tony Moran. Moran emerged from the house and started attacking people as they watched the show. He hadn't put the costume back on in decades.
"I have suited up in 35 years, I haven't put on the mask or cover ups or boots and all that stuff and I even have requests when I do conventions or when I do appearances to wear the mask when they want to do a photo with me and I won't do it, but this is a different story," said Moran.
But Moran was attracted to Central New York, in part, by the impressive replica house built by the owner of Last Ride.
"When I got here and saw it, I was blown away. You can even see, there's broken gutters, that's on purpose, because that's what it's like in the movie. It's unbelievable," said Moran.
And for fans, witnessing Moran's performance was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"He's definitely a big guy and he's in your face and he knows how to intimidate people, as you have seen, and he did a really great job and it was great to see him come out in a mask and see him afterwards," said Bridgeport resident Charles Landphere.
Even I felt the wrath of Michael Myers and will be one of the many here who will be sleeping with the lights from now on.
Tony Moran will be back at the Last Ride Hayride on Sunday for an autograph only session. That appearance will run from 1 until 4 p.m.
