AUBURN, N.Y. -- The president of Cayuga County Community College is stepping down after months of turmoil.
The board of trustees approved Dr. Daniel Larson's retirement on Wednesday. Larson faced criticism for how he handled the college's budget deficit in the spring.
In May, three out of four unions passed a vote of no confidence in Larson, and called for his resignation. Larson plans to retire in November after six years at Cayuga County Community College.
His accomplishments at the college include overseeing the development of a new facility for the Fulton Campus at River Glen, and forgoing new partnerships at the community, state, and national levels.
According to the board of trustees, they hope to interview candidates for interim president by the end of October.
