MANLIUS, N.Y. -- The Fayetteville-Manlius School District is taking a closer look at full day kindergarten.
The study is prompted in part by the new Common Core curriculum. School officials want to determine if full day kindergarten will better prepare students with more time for math, science, and social studies.
According to the New York State Department of Education, 95 percent of kindergarten students are in full day programs.
The study will investigate all aspects, including space, personnel needs, and the impact on student transportation. It will be conducted through this school year, and is expected to be presented to the board upon completion.
