Some of the best German culture can be found in Liverpool at the 53rd annual Great Syracuse Oktoberfest. YNN's Brad Vivacqua has more on the highly anticipated festival.
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- The Great Syracuse Oktoberfest has had a long history of success in Central New York. It will return to Liverpool for the 53rd time on Sunday.
The festival promotes the German American Society of Central New York and its mission throughout the year. This year, Take of Oktoberfest will allow you to sample German foods and beer for one dollar per sample.
There will also be music by the Enzian Bavarian Band, and other cultural performances.
According to organizers, Oktoberfest is a fun and enjoyable experience for anyone who attends.
"A lot of people understand and realize that Germans like to eat good food and drink good beer, so they like to go out and listen to the music and have some food that maybe they don't have all year long and just get into the spirit of the German culture," said June Pardue, Germany American Society member.
There are also plenty of activities for kids, including face painting and a performance by the Twin Magicians.
The festival is scheduled for Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Longbranch Park in Liverpool. Admission is free, and there is plenty of parking.
