NEW YORK STATE -- Veterans can now display their status on their New York State driver's license, permit, or non-driver ID card.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the legislation last year, and it officially took effect on Thursday. Any honorably discharged veteran can apply for the designation through the Department of Motor Vehicles by selecting the appropriate box on the application form, and showing their certificate of discharge from active duty.
"Veteran" will be displayed on the upper left corner of the ID. For more information about the veteran status option, head to LINK='http://www.dmv.ny.gov/armedforces.htm#vetstat'>www.dmv.ny.gov/armedforces.
