CLINTON, N.Y. -- The Clinton, New York community welcomed back a Clinton. Former Secretary of State and New York Senator Hillary Clinton returned to the area to give a free public lecture at Hamilton College.
Clinton highlighted what she called three big challenges in America: Gridlock, growth and global leadership. Clinton said they are all connected.
On the topic of gridlock, she discussed a number of items including the current government shutdown. Clinton said when the American government is at odds with each other, the world is always watching.
"We watch what happens in Washington with a certain amount of bewilderment, even disgust. The rest of the world watches it closely. When we let partisanship override citizenship, when we fail to make progress on the challenges facing our country, our standing in the world suffers," Clinton said.
She is the fourth former Secretary of state to speak at the college as part of its Sacerdote Series.
